3 Things Which Will Lead You To Success

I am about to reveal my three basic tenets of success. These are the things I wish somebody had told me when I was younger. For decades I have been reading and consuming self help material. I have heard every bad piece of advice known to man.

When I had yet another business fail, I decided to pin down what the exact problem was. I narrowed it down to three things I wished I had learned when searching for help. I came up with these three techniques and decided to launch this website. I wanted to give people real success help that works. These are the three most important things you can do for success in your life.

Get In Shape and Gain Energy….

The first thing you must do for success is to get in the best physical shape possible. The main reason for this is because of what it will do for your energy levels. You should always be trying to gain more personal energy.

Energy will allow you to reach your goals faster and with less effort. How can you possibly be operating at an optimal level if you are tired and bogged down all the time? You can’t. You need to get in shape. You need to implement a program of eating and exercise which will give you MORE energy.

You don’t need to feed your body 5 times a day. You don’t need to eat a huge meal representing all the food groups every meal. You can eat light throughout the day for more energy. If you are working on a big project and on a roll, why would you stop to eat lunch? It will totally derail your momentum and you will never find your way back to where you were before lunch.

If you limit your carbohydrate levels in the morning, you absolutely won’t need to eat at noon. I often will skip lunch if I am busy and motivated. Less food can actually give you more energy!

We have been told for years that skipping meals will make you gain weight. We have been told you must eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. We have been told to eat snacks in between meals to keep from getting too hungry.

Nothing can be further from the truth. The more you eat, especially if you are eating carbohydrates, the hungrier you will be throughout the day.

Another key component in raising your energy levels is hydration. If you are not properly hydrated you will feel sluggish. You should drink half your bodyweight in ounces every day. (If you weight 180 lbs, you should drink 90 ounces of water a day.) When you are dehydrated you can confuse it with hunger. This can lead to overeating.

You should be exercising 5-6 times per week. This should include weight training and cardiovascular exercise. The more you move your body, the more you will WANT to move your body. Motion creates energy. If you do nothing else, you should be exercising. It can change your mindset instantly and put you into an energetic state.

I used to do what I called The Superman Workout when I was looking for more energy. I decided I was going to start a swimming program at the gym. After 40 minutes or so of swimming I would hit the steam room. Then when I could not stand the steam anymore (about 10 minutes) I would take an ice cold shower. When I walked out of the gym I felt like I was about to come off the ground. I felt absolutely invigorated. This is why I started calling it The Superman Workout. I felt like I was gonna take to the sky and fly!

This is what I felt like after doing what I dubbed The Superman Workout

You absolutely must keep your energy levels high to accomplish great things. This is done by limiting carbohydrates, drinking more water, exercising and eating fewer calories. This is how you can give yourself super human energy levels. This is what the next level achievers are doing.

There is no reason to bog your system down every 3-4 hours with a heavy meal. Eat some protein, maybe some nuts and seeds or veggies. Keep your fire burning. If you eat a bunch of bread or potatoes at lunch time, you will be tired in the afternoon. Your brain won’t be working.

So eat lighter, drink more water, start exercising and watch your energy levels skyrocket.

Stop Consuming and Start Producing

Be a producer instead of a consumer. How many of you follow people who you envy on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram? I do.

I have been a “self help” junkie for the last 2 decades. I have read every book and listened to every “guru” out there. I have always been a “consumer” when it comes to self help and improvement. But one day I decided to write my own program. It was a weight loss program. I wrote it, launched it and soon was making 10k a month. A month! You can read about it here. This is what can happen when you start producing instead of consuming.

I can’t tell you how many times I have been working on something and decided to go check out somebody elses content. Next thing I know I have been sucked into an internet rabbit hole. By the time I come up for breath I am tired, unmotivated and have wasted hours.

This is not only about social media consumption. How much time do you spend a day wishing you were somewhere else? How much time do you spend talking about someone more successful than you? How much time are you consumed by something somebody else is doing?

Instead of talking about how so and so lost a bunch of weight and got in shape, why not get yourself in shape. Why not give people a reason to talk about you? Stop consuming other peoples success. Start creating your own. You are giving your personal energy away to someone else when you do this. Create your own energy. Create your own life for THEM to be envious of.

Be the producer. The producer gets the girl or guy. The producer gets the raise or new postiiton. The producer finds a way out of mediocrity. The producer lives a REAL life!

Why not start building your life? Work on the job you have and see how you can become more valuable to the people you work for. This is how people move up and get ahead.

Going from a consumer to a producer will help you recognize opportunity. You will start to develop insight and new ways to make your life better.

Have A Budget and Save What Is Left

Start budgeting and saving. You need to start building YOUR future. Saving some money is the easiest way to start “making more money”. You can give yourself a raise by simply not spending ALL of your money every week. Building your wealth starts with saving money.

If you become successful but don’t know how to live within your means, it does not matter. You will always be broke. I was making a quarter million dollars a month and was basically broke. Why? Because I had no idea how much I was spending.

So my big three success principles are these:

  1. Get in shape and get your energy levels where they should be
  2. Stop consuming and start producing a life you deserve.
  3. Start saving money and growing your life. Stuff doesn’t matter, your bank account does. It will give you peace of mind and a stress free life.

These are the big three guys and gals. This is my mission here. To push these three things as hard as I can. If you can accomplish these three things you will be healthier, happier and have less stress. This will help you live a happier, healthier, more fulfilled life.

The Secrets of Warren Buffett and Grant Cardone

If there is one thing I could go back and tell myself it would be this. In order to be successful, you need to always be moving forward towards wealth. In short, you need to always be saving money. You need to always be gaining and not losing, no matter how small. Everybody dreams and schemes on ways to become rich, instead of using the easiest way of all. Start saving money!

Listen. If you are living in a tiny one bedroom apartment and putting money away every month, you are much better off than the guy living in a huge house who can barely make his payments. In fact, if you are putting money away, this instantly makes you more successful than a lot of Americans. 35% of Americans have zero savings. That means if you just start saving, you are richer than 35 percent of people living in the U.S.

Taking Action…

Is taking massive action the way to success? Maybe, maybe not.

The self help industry has been built on two things. Goal setting and taking action. Taking “massive action” is what Tony Robbins has been selling to folks for 4 decades. He has made millions and millions of dollars selling this advice. But does it work?

For most people I would say no. You can take all the action in the world and still not see success. The reason for this is simple. Most people are working jobs. Now, you can work harder at your job. You can get a raise. You can start to make more money. But if you aren’t saving any of that money, it does no good. Your lifestyle will magically rise as your pay does. This is why you need to train yourself to sock money away.

Now, you could start your own business. You could take massive action. It might work. You could pick a really lucrative industry and have everything absolutely blow up and make you wealthy. But, statistics show this isn’t usually the case. A large percentage of small businesses fail. That is a fact. But nobody wants to hear this. Most people, after buying into the self help industry, think they can outwork this fact. Some will. Most will not.

I am not saying what Tony Robbins and other motivators are saying is wrong. I just think they are putting the cart before the horse. The much better and SMARTER option is to learn how to control your finances. Learn how to live below your means. Get out of debt and start accumulating money. Then, once you do this, start looking for opportunities. Starting a business on a shoestring and planning to take “massive action” is a recipe for disaster.

The much better option is learning how to accumulate money doing what you are currently doing. Then start a business that doesn’t cost much to start and can make a small profit easily. Then run that company like you run your life and start putting even more money away. Rinse and repeat. This is a recipe for success.

Much Lower Stress…

If you learn to live like this I will guarantee one thing. You will have much less stress in your life. Nothing lowers stress like being financially secure.

Don’t be this guy. Become stress free instead.

Look at Warren Buffett. He lives in a small house he bought 50 years ago in Omaha. He doesn’t have billions of dollars worth of homes like most hedge fund managers. Because of this, when the market goes down, he buys up bargains while other managers and banks look to him to borrow money. He has made one of the largest fortunes in history, in part, because of his frugality. He also happens to be a financial genius, but you get the point.

If you listen to Warren Buffett talk, he exudes calmness and rationality. If you look at other fund managers they are the complete opposite. This has been a big key to his success.

The Real Key To Success…

So what is the real secret to success?

  1. Be as frugal as possible. Learn not to waste hard earned money on things that lose their value almost instantly (i.e. cars, boats, clothes, furniture). You can have these things, but buy quality and use them as long as you can. I realize for young people this can be quite a task, but it is a VERY important lesson to learn.
  2. Earn as much as possible. Always be trying to earn more money. This is why saving is so important. People who are struggling to pay bills are typically not on the lookout for more money. They don’t care because it will all go to bills anyways. Earn as much as you can with the skills you have.
  3. Save as much as possible. Start saving every week. If you are in debt, get out as quickly as you can. Then start saving. Start BUILDING your wealth!

So there it is. Be as frugal as possible. Earn and save as much as possible.

I can’t stress how important this frugality thing can be. If you look into the lives of very wealthy people, you will almost always find that they are extremely frugal individuals.

Warren Buffett– His frugality is legendary. He is one of the richest people in the world and lives in the same house he bought when he got married.

This is Warren Buffett’s house. The richest man in the world at one time.

Donald Trump– Most people think of Trump as a spender because of his planes and houses. He is frugal. I once read a book called Trump Nation. This Wall Street Journal reporter said Donald would use the reporters phone whenever he saw him to save minutes. Don’t know if this is true but it wouldn’t surprise me. Rich people like saving money.

Grant Cardone- Grant is a huge internet marketer and influencer who drives Rolls Royce’s and has a private jet. Grant said he drove a Toyota Camry until he was a millionaire. If you get deeper into his stuff he always preaches saving and investing money instead of buying toys you can’t afford.

This is Grant Cardone with his jet. He drove a camry until his investments could afford to pay for a more luxurious car.

These are just a few of the very wealthy people on planet earth. I have read many, many biographies in my life. Frugal spending habits are a thing you find very common amongst the wealthy people who run our planet. Extremely common.

This is not the shiniest or fanciest advice on the planet. But you know what? This is something that everyone can start right now. Everybody, no matter how young or old, can start doing this today. TODAY! Get after it. Start today. It becomes fun once you start. It is inspiring and you start to love it once you start gaining momentum.

3 Ways To Become A Charismatic, Energetic Indiviual

If you are going to be successful, you are going to need energy and lots of it. If you look at any successful person, they have lots of energy. When someone describes someone who charismatic, it is almost always preceded or followed by energetic. “Wow, what a charismatic, energetic guy!”

Energy creates momentum. When you are enthusiastic and energetic, the world seems to open up to you. Things start falling in your lap. You get luckier. Energy is the cornerstone of any successful individual. Energy creates more of what we want and need in life!

So how do we create more energy? Well I have narrowed it down to a few things.

Here are my 3 tips for creating more energy for your life.

Watch What You Put In Your Mouth.

Don’t be like this guy.

Over the last few years I have been contemplating getting on testosterone replacement therapy. The main reason for this was lack of energy. Fatigue. After doing the research I decided not to take the testosterone. I had a nagging feeling that if I lost weight and ate right, the fatigue would go away.

So last month I did a dry January. I quit drinking and cut my calories down to about 1,200 a day. I ate mostly lower carb food, but not always. I stuck to this diet religiously for the month of January.

The result was that my energy skyrocketed.

Once I wasn’t bogging my system down with food every few hours, my energy went through the roof. I had so much energy at night I started organizing everything in my house. I also became an idea machine. Ideas once again began to flood my brain. I started to get motivated like I haven’t been in a long time.

So before anything, I would advise cutting calories. Stop eating HEAVY meals like bread and pasta.  Lots of bread and carbs in the middle of the day will zap your energy. I can think of nothing that will kill my afternoon energy levels more than a carbohydrate heavy lunch.

Try eating light during the day. Lean protein (chicken, tuna, eggs, turkey), veggies, nuts and seeds. These things will give you energy instead of zapping it. They will fuel your body instead of bogging it down.

Drink lots of water. You don’t need to overdo it, but stay hydrated. Keep water nearby and drink it often.

Get Your Body Moving

This girl definitely looks charismatic and energetic.

Tony Robbins says motion creates emotion. If you lay on the couch all day, how much energy do you think you will have? None. What about if you move around. Much more?

Have you ever noticed how much more animated you are when you pace while on the phone? What about when you talk on the phone while lying down? You can almost hear someone laying down when talking to them on the phone.

So move around. Get up and move your arms and legs throughout the day. Get animated. If you sit and act tired, you will be tired. Get work done at a fast clip. Jump up and clear your desk, organize your area. Stop putting things off. Get moving.

Also, you must start an exercise routine. Exercise creates energy. If you exercise in the morning it will start your day on a positive energy note. If you exercise in the evening it will do the same. You will sleep better and be more restored the next day. This will snowball into an energetic lifestyle.

You know what they say. An object in motion will stay in motion. This is more true than you know. If you are going to be an energetic, successful person you must be a mover. Stay on the move all day. Take the stairs. Park far away and walk.

I remember when I trained for a marathon. I would catch myself driving around looking for a closer parking spot. What the hell. I would run ten miles in the morning and then drive around looking for a spot 30 yards closer to the store. Find ways to move more throughout the day. Be different from the lazy sheep you see all around you.

Watch What You Put In Your Mind

Don’t put garbage in your mind. Garbage in, garbage out.

The last thing is to put motivating things into your mind. Read blogs like these. Follow inspirational people on social media.

If all you do is read about politics and negative press coverage, it will zap your energy.

Keep guard of your mind at all times. You can become depressed just by the media you allow into your brain. 99 percent of it is nothing but propaganda anyways. It is designed to make you scared and worried. This keeps people watching.

Change your habits. Stop watching the news and watch uplifting movies. Read uplifting, motivational books. Read and listen to energetic, charismatic individuals because this is the goal. This is who you want to emulate.

Those are a few ways you can use to gain more personal energy. When people describe you to someone, maybe they will say he/she is a charismatic, energetic individual. Charismatic, energetic people rule the world. Be a leader, not a follower. Create a routine to increase your energy. Start today!

3 Ways To Win Like Tom Brady and The Patriots

Last night Tom Brady and the New England Patriots won their conference championship and are heading to the Superbowl yet again. It was an amazing game won in overtime. Now, I am not a huge football fan. I watch the playoffs (sometimes) and the Superbowl and that’s about it.

Back in the day I hated the Patriots. Not anymore. I became a fan in the last few years just because of their winning attitude. Their “culture” of winning as people might call it nowadays. But it is true and there are valuable lessons to be learned from Bill Bellichick and Tom Brady.

You could see the winning attitude in Tom Brady’s eyes early in the game last night. He looked like a killer. You could see, in his eyes, why he is so successful. And he pulled out a win. Without a roster full of superstars, he pulled out a win. Granted he has arguable the best coach in history on his side, but still.

So what can us mere mortals trying to be successful in life learn from Bill Bellichick and Tom Brady?

Develop A Culture Of Winning…

I remember back when my business was really taking a bad turn. I remember telling a friend, I need a quick win here. Business and life are a slippery slope. If things start going bad, they can get worse real quick. Then it can turn into a death spiral of bad decisions and wishful decisions.

This is why when it got bad I told my friend I needed a win. I knew if I didn’t turn something around quick it would spiral out of control. I needed to stop the bleeding and not let a few bad events turn into a culture of losing.

A strange thing happens when things start going wrong. Your mindset changes. You start thinking about losing instead of winning. You start talking about losing and how things are going wrong. This is bad. Really bad.

This is why you need to develop a WINNING culture for your business and life. This is why I absolutely believe we need to stay in good physical shape. When you start getting out of shape and gaining weight, it is the first crack in your foundation. Pretty soon you don’t have as much energy. Then you start slacking at work or in your business. Pretty soon you aren’t making as much, so you aren’t saving the money you once did. Or you don’t have as much energy, so you don’t make the calls you should. And on and on and on.

We can keep this from happening by keeping a winning attitude about ALL things in our life. Which leads me to one of the things I always talk about.

Take Advantage of Momentum…

When things are good, you need to work it like your life depends on it. When things are going good, put the pedal to the metal and ride it out as long as you can. This is what Tom Brady has done.

He was a sixth round draft pick and a backup quarterback. Then the Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe got hurt. Brady came in and took them to the Superbowl and won.

But he didn’t stop there. He has ridden that momentum until last night when he won the conference championship. He rode it to 5 Superbowl wins. He didn’t let up and enjoy his rich, easy life. He put the pedal down. He watches what he eats all year. He works out all year. He never stops.

Because he knows.

He knows if he lets up, the momentum will stop and he will slide into mediocrity.

We can use this same sort of mindset Tom Brady has in our own life.

To do so we must:

  1. Create wins in our life. No matter how small, make sure we start winning. Do a little more each day to ensure things start going your way. Workout a little harder, eat a little less, save a little more, etc. Start the success snowball rolling in your favor.
  2. Turn the game around so we are winning consistently. Start gaining momentum. Continue doing winning things. Continue pursuing energy, fitness, money, etc.
  3. Then, work as hard as possible to maintain positive momentum. Don’t stop. EVER!

That’s it. This is the way Tom Brady has become the living legend he is today. He has maintained a winning way of life. He never stops. You can too. Best of all, you can start today. No matter how old, young, fat or lazy you are.

Start winning today. Go out and get one small win. Then let it snowball into a way of life. Then maintain your momentum, ALL YOUR LIFE! This is how you become a winner in life.

No More Excuses, You Have More Power Than You Realize

I was reading an article on Yahoo earlier about an Instagram model who posted a picture of her from ten years ago. She was overweight and holding a girl up doing a kegstand. Pretty funny actually. Then there was a picture of now. Super toned, amazing body. It was a really good post actually.

This is not the girl, but I like this picture.

She laid out how in the before picture she was drinking, eating nothing but fast food, not exercising, not drinking water or sleeping right. She said she now works out, eats good 80 percent of the time, drinks a lot of water and sleeps well. Sounds like a plan for success doesn’t it? Sounds like she has her ducks in a row and is doing what needs to be done to look amazing. Kudos to her.

So I scroll down to the comments section after reading about her and couldn’t believe the excuses coming from people.

Excuse after Excuse…

Almost every single comment on the page I read, said something about how they could do the same if all they had to do is workout and take pictures of themselves. Seriously, like every single post. If I didn’t have a job, family, life and on and on and on. The excuses flowed like a river.

What the heck has happened to people. People are so worthless and lazy that they now can’t even give compliments to someone who has gotten in amazing shape. The internet has turned people into perpetual haters. And excuse makers.

Everything these people were spewing was nothing but excuses. Everybody has time to workout. Everybody. I would guess that every single person that posted some excuse watches at least two hours of TV a day. If not TV, then the internet. So you have time to read an article and then post comments about it, but not to workout. I would bet that most of them spent as much time on that article as they could have on a workout.

Don’t be like this. I have been like this. We all have. I have never posted on a website negative things about any fitness model or bodybuilder though that’s for sure. I mean seriously. Those people actually took time out of their day to post their excuses for the world to see. That is some high level excuse making right there.

This is what lazy people do.

This is what fat people do.

This is what poor people do. (within reason, obviously snowflake.)

They make excuses. They take other people down who are doing what they wish they had the strength to do.

But you do have the strength. Yes, you do.

You Have More Power Than You Realize…

You have all the strength inside of you to do everything you ever wanted to do. You just need to stop making excuses and do it.

You have the strength to get into the best shape of your life. You can start today and look like an Instagram model (or whoever) in under a year if you really wanted to. And yes, you could do so even while working 60 hours a week and raising a family. I work 60-70 hours a week for 8 months out of the year. I usually stop going to the gym during this time because I tell myself I don’t have enough time. But one year I didn’t tell myself that. I went to the gym three days a week religiously and trained for a marathon the other days of the week. This all happened while working 60-70 hours a week, doing arguably some of the hardest physical labor there is.

I would get up and go to the gym or run 4 miles, then pour concrete with one of my crews for my construction company all morning. Then I would help set up concrete pours for the next day all afternoon. I would run between 10 and 20 miles on Sunday. At one point, I was even swimming at night on top of all of this! I was also sending out bids during the afternoon and doing book work late at night.

So stop with the excuses people. Everybody is capable of this type of energy.

Stop making excuses and putting other people down. It really only drags you down. How can you accomplish what you want if you have an excuse for why you don’t look the way you want to look.

So it’s real easy. Stop making excuses, start your program of awesomeness. Again, stop making excuses, start executing your plan. Simple as that. You can start today. Not Monday or tomorrow. You can actually start this today.

5 Ways To Change Your Life

Not as fancy as Tony Robbin’s advice, but it works. It works every time!

I started this blog because I wanted to give people some actual self help techniques which would improve their lives. I wanted to make people more financial successful, in better shape and happier. I started this site because I believe the self help industry is mostly full of a bunch of bullshit that simply doesn’t work or only works when you are not facing real challenges or hardships.

So the focus of this article is to give you a few things which I wish I would have followed starting back in my 20’s. Had I done so I would be in much better shape financially and spiritually. These are real life things which are not mind blowing by any means. They are simply the things people should be doing in order to be successful.

Like all things of this nature, they are not fancy. They are not magical. They are practical. I used to subscribe to a marketing newsletter by a guy names Dan Kennedy. He is a legend in copywriting and internet marketing circles. He said people were always more interested in “hype” type methods than actual practical business advice.(think the secret, visualizing, law of attraction, etc.) What he meant was people are always looking for some new shiny piece of advice they haven’t heard before. Something magical that is going to fix all their problems. I am no exception to this. I will read article after article on the internet about “how” to fix my problem instead of working on actually fixing the damn problem.

This, of course, is just human nature. A lot of the time we feel like we have already tried everything and have already been working really hard on a problem. So we go out in search of the magical answer to our problem.

But some things just aren’t meant to be. They won’t happen no matter how hard you try. I wish I knew why some people are successful over and over and never have adversity. I wish I knew. But I don’t.

The only thing I really believe in is momentum when it comes to success. If things are going your way then work as hard as possible for as long as possible. Typical we tend to do the exact opposite. When times are good and momentum is going our way, we tend to relax and think it is always going to be this way. Then, when things inevitably go bad, we tend to work really hard and bang our heads against the wall. We should work really hard when things are good and just work and wait out the bad when it goes bad. And it will go bad. It always does.

Here are the success or “self help” techniques I wish I would have followed in my life so far.

  1. Stay out of debt. When you are not worrying about money, you can worry about GROWING your business and life. If you are constantly behind on bills you will be stuck in maintenance mode.
  2. When times are good, work your ass off until it turns. It will turn, no matter how good it looks now.
  3. When times are bad, buckle down, cut expenses and wait it out. Again, the tide will eventually turn.
  4. Work when you work. Work as if you were leaving town tomorrow.
  5. Exercise every day and try to stay in shape and avoid drugs and alcohol as much as possible.

There you go. Not very shiny I know. Simple advice that works.

Goodbye 2018 And Good Riddance, Make Green in 2019

2018 was probably one of the worst years of my life as far as finances go. In 2017 I decided to go all in on a different strategy for my construction business. It was a disaster plagued by rain, projects bid too low and the ever presence of Murphy’s stupid fucking law. 2018 was a continuation of that and more. The fucking wheels came right the fuck off. Man, what a shit show.

Anyways. This is a success blog. Nobody wants to hear about my troubles. I should be showing you pictures of my cars or something. Or my rented house that I pretend to own. Well, here you go.

Redneck ballin’ right there. That truck makes me sick. Every time I drive it I think of how shitty my year was and how I should be driving something which costs half as much. I did the same thing when I lived in Central America and was driving a BMW convertible. I always wanted a BMW and I had it. When things went bad I hated driving that car. It made me ill. I finally sold it.

Anyways. This year sucked. I cancelled our family vacation because of work. I cancelled my spring and fall walleye fishing trips because of work. I cancelled my life. I ate too much. I drank too much. I stressed too much.

Normally I look forward to Christmas. We are usually winding down our year and all my money starts rolling in. I go to some Christmas plays, Mannheim Steamroller and enjoy Christmas Eve at my church listening to Christmas carols. Not this year. As I watched the band at church on Christmas eve, I was thinking of how I was going to come up with a payment to one of my suppliers. I just didn’t know how it was possible and where this money was going to come from. It ruined my Christmas. Worst Christmas of my life. Hands down.

But you know what happened?

A bunch of checks came in. Some that I had no intention of seeing for at least a month. I was able to make my payment. I let it ruin my Christmas for nothing. All that worry for nothing. What a little bitch. I should have just tried to enjoy what I do have during this holiday season. I have a great family. Great wife. Great kids. We are all healthy. I should have focused on that. But I didn’t. I never do. Not when things are going shitty like this.

Worst year of my life. Good riddance.

I would love to tell you how everything is fine now. It ain’t.

I would love to tell you that if you have faith everything works out. Not yet. I will be sluggin this out for a while. I have a river of shit to swim through. I am too old and wise to know better. I wish I didn’t know, but I do. I know how much work I have ahead of me and the thought alone exhausts me.

But. This year is over. A new one is going to start. And I, for one, am ready and excited for the new year.

I am excited about turning things around. I am excited about losing weight and getting my fat ass back in shape. I am excited about this blog and some products I am going to be developing for it.

I am excited and ready for 2019. I am ready for what the future may bring. Who knows. It just might be the BEST year of my life. I am still here. I am still breathing. I know that I can handle pressure better than I thought. I didn’t melt down under the pressure. I fought and am still fighting. The end may be near, but it ain’t fucking here yet.

So to all of you out there. Make 2019 grand. It’s gonna be a hell of a year. My motto for the year is to Make green in 2019. Turn this ship around and make it better, stronger and more resilient.

Use This Trick To Get More Done In Less Time

Get More Done In Less Time.

The key to getting more done is easier said than done. All you really need to do is stop wasting time. If I am working in my office and not in the field, I would say I waste 3-4 hours a day surfing the net. And the crazy thing is I am usually reading about how to be more successful and get more done. Crazy! That is seriously crazy.

I believe it was Zig Ziglar who talked about working like you are going out of town. The day before I leave town for vacation, I get ten times the productivity out of myself. It is because I can’t put it off. I can’t say I am going to do it tomorrow because I won’t fucking be here tomorrow. So I get all my shit done. Every time, I get all my shit done. This never happens on a regular day. Ever! I always put something off until the next day.

Every time I do this, it amazes me. Every time, I think, why don’t I always work like this?Imagine if you worked like this every single day. At the end of the year, you would have done five years worth of work or more. I imagine this is how super driven, high achiever types work. I have a friend who barely works at all and makes a ton of money. Like high 6 figure money. Close to 7 figures. When he works, he works. He is super efficient and an excellent delegator. I strive to be more like this.

How can we trick ourselves into working more like this? Well, I have been thinking about it. The easiest answer is make a list and check off all your items until they are done. Don’t stop. Do this every day and always finish your list.

Work When You Work…

But we need more than this. What we need to do is make sure we work when we work. Always answer your phone. Always return emails and calls because there is no tomorrow. Delegate that which can be delegated. Always. Every day! This is the path to efficient productivity.

This is the reason why motivational speakers like Tony Robbins have such an impact on some people. For some people, nobody has ever told them they can wake up in the morning and be full of energy, life and go out and get what they want.

So the next day they wake up early, go to work and crush it all day. They are amazed. They start to realize their potential. They start to motivate themselves. They start to see results. Then the motivation begins to wear off. Then they look to motivational speakers to give them “techniques” to get them motivated again. But this time, it doesn’t work as well. This is the self help cycle.

This is why a “success routine” is important. A routine of getting and staying in shape, reading and learning and being productive. The routine can keep you out of a slump and moving forward. A routine can make sure you work when you work.

So, make a list. Do everything on the list until it is done. Answer your calls and emails. Work is for work. Then go home and be content with the fact that you did all you could do today.

The Two Things You Need To Discover Your Mission

Self help  gurus love to inspire you with magical ways to get what you want in life. At one time I bought into a lot of these ideas. Virtually none of them ever panned out for anything with the exception of one.

In order to accomplish anything you want in life you must have a vision. A vision of exactly how you are going to accomplish what you set out to accomplish. This vision is a clear, defined idea of what you want your life to look like once you have accomplished a goal. It can be a business, personal or financial vision.

This is a must. Every single successful person I have ever met or read about had a clear vision of what they wanted to do. They could see it long before anybody else believed in them. There is almost always a visionary leader behind any great company or fortune. Warren Buffett. Bill Gates. Steve Jobs. Ray Croc. Ted Turner. All of these guys had a clear vision well before it matured into the success you see today. They believed in their vision.

When I was in my early twenties, I had an idea. I was working as a foreman at my fathers company and wanted desperately to start a real “business”. A business which didn’t involve me being dirty at the end of the day. A business that involved sales and marketing and putting deals together. I had a vision of this in my head. I wasn’t sure what type of business or how I was going to start it. I just had the vision.

One day I read an article in GQ (it wasn’t the garbage it is today) about some guys who went down to Central America and started an offshore bookmaking operation. They started as a phone operation. By now, it was the late nineties and the internet had taken off. So by this time online sportbooks and casinos were beginning to pop up in the Caribbean and Central America. I now had my vision. I wanted in. I wanted to be like these guys in the article.

To make a real long story short: I put some money together, moved to Central America and opened up a marketing company. Just like that. Within a year I had met the guys in this article and I was making over a quarter million dollars a month. A month!

This is the power of a vision. I had no idea how I was going to start a company. I didn’t even know what kind of company I wanted to start. All I had was a vision. This vision allowed me to do something that still amazes me to this day.

But we are getting ahead of ourselves here. Before the vision can work you must do something else.

A Decision…

Before any of this happens you must make a decision. You absolutely must have already decided not only what you want, but that you are going to get it. You must decide. In my case I decided I was going to start a new company. I knew what kind of company I wanted and when the opportunity arose, I took it. I took it because I had already made the decision that I was going to do this some day.

You must make a decision to do whatever it takes to make this vision a reality. You must decide that you want to do something.

This is my formula.

  1. Make a decision to get or have something you want in life. This can be money, fitness, health, women, whatever. Decide that this is what your main goal is right now in life. Decide right now that you are going to do whatever it takes to get to this goal.
  2. Create a vision of what your life or business will look like once you attain the things you decided to attain. Then work towards making this a reality.

This is your mission. You have decided what you wanted and created a vision of how you are going to get it. This is your life mission right now.

In my opinion, this is the only “self help” you ever need. Use this formula to get what you want over and over. Whenever I have not had a clear vision, I have faltered. My current offline business is suffering right now because I didn’t believe in my vision. This blog is now my mission and I have a clear vision of what I want to do with it. I want to help as many people as possible with their business and lives. I want to give people real strategies that work. I also want to share what is bullshit and has never worked for me. This is my mission with this blog.

Make a decision. A real damn decision to get something you have always wanted. Then create a vision of how you are going to attain this something. Now you have discovered your mission. Now you have something to work on every day until it becomes a reality. If you do this, you will be successful. You cannot fail. It will take longer than you think probably. But, it will work if you work on it every day.

The One Thing You Absolutely Need To Achieve Your Dreams

It was about six years ago. I was 36 years old. I was about 200 pounds and not in shape at all. I got winded doing the easiest things. I was drinking a six pack or more every night of the week. Business was horrible. My attitude was horrendous.

Then I started having these irregular heartbeats. It felt like my heart was flopping around in my chest. It got to where it was happening most of the day. I would wake up in the middle of the night with my heart racing and me thinking I was having a heart attack.

I went and saw a cardiologist. First he reassured me. Told me I have a feeling you drink a lot of alcohol. I did. Then he ordered a stress test. The stress test came back and they said they wanted to do a catheter up my vein and see my arteries. They said there was a 95% chance of a blockage. The lady kept repeating the 95%. So much so that I felt like she was trying to sell me on a surgery. So much so that I got a second opinion.

Turns out it wasn’t a blockage after all. But it did scare the shit out of me.

So much so that I changed my diet and started running. I lost 40 pounds in a couple months. I ran a marathon 6 months later. I ran a 50k a week after that. I had a six pack.

I remember when I told my neighbor that I was thinking about running a 50k after my marathon. I figured it took me six months to get in shape, I might as well knock out another marathon. The only race that was close was a 50k, so I ran that instead. That is 31 miles in case you didn’t know. When I told him, he said good idea because you never know if you will ever be this motivated again. He was right.

At the time I thought I would be running for the rest of my life. But then I had injuries. Then I figured out some food additives that were giving me the heart beat problem. Fast forward to today and I haven’t ran in quite some time.

So, how was I able to accomplish these goals that would have seemed ridiculous less than a year earlier. I mean a six pack? Marathon? Ultra Marathon? In less than six months? Seems outrageous. But I did it. It is because of one thing…

I had leverage on my self. I had something that pushed me into these accomplishments. Looking back it was somewhat effortless. The training was hard and took some discipline. But overall, I had no problems. I have always had problems with self discipline then and now. But for that year I had no problems. I thought about doing something and did it.

So how can we use this knowledge to propel us into accomplishing our life and business goals? Well, this is where it gets a little tricky. Me thinking I was going to have a heart attack and die, is much stronger than anything I can ever concoct in my mind.

Is there any way we can repeat this “fear” and use it to push us towards our goals?

I believe there is. Nothing will work quite as well as a real life health scare or something like that. But this will get close.

The Fear…

First, you must identify the fear which is keeping you from achieving your goal. This can be a group of fears. In my case my fear was having a heart attack. Your fear might be that you will lose your house or kids or wife or girlfriend. It might be that you will never be successful. It might be that you are going to go broke. It might be that if you don’t get into shape you won’t be around much longer. Whatever these fears are, embrace them. Right them down

Now, decide to take actions to alleviate that fear. Make a list of two or three actions which you can do daily which will move you towards the exact opposite of your fear (this is your goal or what you are trying to accomplish.) Then do those 2 or 3 things every day until your goal is reached. This is it. This is how lives are changed. It happens all the time. When somebody finally reaches their breaking point, they lose the weight. When someone has fear so bad they just can’t take it anymore, they do something about it. All you are doing is consciously making decisions to do this.

The point of this blog and my writings are to simplify “self help” techniques and give you things that work. This works. Try it for yourself. I could go on and on about magic ways to make you successful. I could fill this blog will page after page of “motivation”. But the truth is, you don’t need it. When you finally reach your breaking point and get something done in your life, it is usually incredibly simple. You decide to do something and you do it. Sometimes this can shock the system and turn you into a huge success.
