Let Go Of The Fear

Have you ever noticed that everything on tv is designed to make you fear something? Floods. Earthquakes. Mass shootings. I mostly have quit watching the news. The other night I clicked by the mainstream nightly news. It was NBC I think, but not sure. Anyways I watched the opening montage of what was to come up on the broadcast.

In a menacing voice they went through catastrophe after catastrophe. Yuck I thought to myself and changed the channel. Why in the hell would I watch that? So I can feel like shit about myself and the world? Seriously.

I turned it off and watched a cooking show.

I have enough fear in my life. I don’t need somebody packaging a bunch of it and spoon feeding it to me.

It is the same with the supposed “racism” the news keeps pushing. All I see are stories about some racist doing something to somebody. Or some black guy sucker punching some old white guy. Yet when I get out in public, everybody seems to get along just fine. Usually it seems like people are going out of their way to NOT seem racist.

I will admit to being a bit of a conspiracy nut. But, I feel like there is an agenda being pushed here. “They” are trying to make us scared. They are trying to separate us. They are trying to get us to hate each other and look to “them” for answers. This is the only conclusion I can make out of all of this. Either that or fear just sells news stories. But that isn’t it. I mean look at how many people watch funny animal videos. People like good stuff as much or more than the fear based bullshit that everybody seems to be peddling on any mainstream news platform.

So here is my easy solution to all of this.

First, stop watching the news. Stop reading the news. It isn’t news anymore anyways. I read a front page story on foxnews.com the other day about how big OJ Simpson’s penis is. Swear to God. I pretty much decided right then and there to stop going to that site. I have already done the same with Drudge. This was on the front page. Unbelievable. So stop watching and reading news.

Second, start interacting with people and coming to your conclusions from real life experience. Television and the internet are not the real world. It is a virtual world being crafted by horrible people.

Third, realize that there is an agenda being pushed. If you watch television for 30 minutes you will see this. They are pushing Gay, anti family, anti American propaganda on every show, commercial and program. Every one. Once you look for it, it will blow your mind. But it goes much deeper than that. They are pushing multitudes of risky lifestyles. This is done on purpose.

So here is my solution. Get healthy. Read books instead of the news. Cook your own food. Interact with your neighbors and friends. Get outdoors. Begin to live a live outside of this bull virtual hellhole they seem to be pushing on us. What you see online and on television is not the real world. There is good in the world. There is greatness out there. Television, the news and a good deal of the internet just want to scare you.

There is nothing to be afraid of. We all die in the end anyways. Let go of the fear and live life.

Global Warming These Nuts

I haven’t posted anything in a while. The truth is I have nothing to write. This is the dead time here in the Midwest. The cold hasn’t broke yet and it is March 6th. What the hell?

It has been below 20 degrees for two months now. Super cold. I go out in my garage to throw the trash away and it takes me a few minutes to warm back up. I haven’t been to the gym in over a week. I have been eating like shit. Healthy food is not fun when it’s this cold. It just doesn’t taste right. But it is almost gone. I can feel it. The warmth is coming.

At one point I lived in Central America. San Jose, Costa Rica. For five years I lived there. It was pretty much 80 degrees every single day. Sure there was a rainy season. It would rain every day in the afternoon for six months straight. But it was still warm. And in the morning it was sunny. It was beautiful. I loved it. It was the happiest I have ever been in my whole life. I never took it for granted.

I would drive in my convertible to my office in the city. Warm air blowing over me. Sunshine raining down on me. I was grateful for this every day. Even when I was going broke, I was happy.

I never missed the seasons. You always here that. Oh, but I LOOOVVVEEE the seasons. I hate the damn seasons. I want warm weather. I want to drive my convertible to the office and see the mountains in the distance and have 80 degree weather every day.

But I don’t.

It was six friggin degrees when I woke up this morning. My dog doesn’t even want to go outside. A DOG!!! The snow is so hard, from being so damn cold and windy, that her legs get stuck. I have to pep talk her into breaking out of the cold, frozen snow and coming back inside.

Well, spring is coming soon. I do have that to look forward to. But every year I dislike this cold more and more. The negativity of it is endless. Why do I live Here I think. Can you believe this weather I say. Everybody is in on it at this point. I talk about it at the gas station in the morning when I get my coffee. I walk in the door shaking off the damn cold like Bob Seger and pronounce, Holy shit it’s cold out there. I sound like a pussy.

Enough already!

But the truth is we still have another month. There is a foot of snow on the ground. 6 inches expected tonight. Did I mention it is March friggin 6th! So this means going into Mid march we will have a foot and a half of snow to deal with before this mess is over.

Global warming these nuts people. It ain’t ever ending.

It is dark and cold and it is never going to get warmer.

I need Costa Rica.

What It Really Takes To Get Six Pack Abs

This is me with the elusive six pack.

Ever since I can remember I have wanted to achieve a six pack. I would see pictures of people with them. It seemed so attainable.

I think I probably had one when I was younger. I was very lean growing up. I don’t remember though.

What I do know is when I was 17 years old I got fat. I partied that whole summer after my Junior year in high school. I would go to parties and then come home and cook burgers on my parent’s deck. In three months I put on about 30 pounds.

When school started back up I knew I needed to lose weight. I went on a diet program made by a company called Cybergenics. Their progam was called Cybertrim. I lost about 25 or 30 pounds. Bascially it was a diet program along with a bunch of supplements.

Blast from the past.

I got down to about 175 pounds. It was a lot of work. A lot of dieting and working out. But no six pack. In fact, I wasn’t even close to a six pack.

I assumed it was out of the question, me ever attaining six pack abs. I mean, look how hard I worked that  time. I did all the dieting and working out and I wasn’t even close to a six pack.

So I plugged along. Lost weight another time and sold my diet program online. I still didn’t have a six pack. I lost a lot of weight and sold a lot of programs. I was making $10,000.00 a month selling my diet program. But no six pack.

At this point, I considered it a fact that I would never have a six pack stomach. I would never see my ab muslces. I didn’t care. I wasn’t losing sleep over it or anything. I just would say that I didn’t believe it was a possibility.

So fast forward about ten years or so. I had once again packed on the weight. I would guess I weighed somewhere in the neighborhood of 205-210 probably. This is pretty heavy for me.

I was drinking every night, eating like crap and not takin very good care of myself. I started having what I thought were heart problems. My heart was skipping a beat. I went in an saw a cardiologist. After a million tests it turned out I was fine. But this put the fear of God into me. I was on a mission.

I devised what I thought was a heart healthy diet. Read about that diet here. I started exercising at the gym. Then I started running outside.  I started running 3-4 days a week. I remember the first time I ran 7 miles. I was amazed. I had tried running before and never made it farther than 3 miles. I really surprised myself. I wonder how far I can run, I thought? I signed up for a marathon and started doing a long run on Sundays. Pretty soon I was running over 10 miles on Sundays.

I would run around a lake by my house. There were two loops around this lake. One was 3 miles and the other was 4. It was like a figure 8 shaped lake divided by a bridge. I remember being amazed when I could run the big side, which was 4 miles. By the end of the summer I was running both loops 3 times (21 miles). It is shocking how easily your body and fitness adapts when you push it hard enough.

As you can imagine with this diet and all this running the weight started falling off fast. I was dropping 5 pounds a week or more.

The final result was me being about 160 pounds. This was the lightest I had been since I was in junior high. I wrestled 152 pound as a freshman in high school and had to cut weight for that. And guess what? I had a six pack. But I was skinny. Almost too skinny in my view. My head looked gigantic.

Here is a a pic below the summer before I ran my marathon.

This is me at about 159 pounds. About what I weighed when I was 15 years old.

Granted I was also eating about 1,200 calories a day, plus beer most nights. But, I was also doing construction work every day. I would run 4 or 5 miles, then go to work and pour concrete for 4 hours. Then on the weekends, I would run anywhere from 15-20 miles on Sunday alone.

So Can you get a six pack? Sure. You just need to get lean enough. I know people will say that you can drop bodyfat without getting your weight down. I have never been able to do this. I am either lean or chubby. No middle ground.

So this is how I did it. Maybe you have a better method. If so I would love to hear about it.

3 Things Which Will Lead You To Success

I am about to reveal my three basic tenets of success. These are the things I wish somebody had told me when I was younger. For decades I have been reading and consuming self help material. I have heard every bad piece of advice known to man.

When I had yet another business fail, I decided to pin down what the exact problem was. I narrowed it down to three things I wished I had learned when searching for help. I came up with these three techniques and decided to launch this website. I wanted to give people real success help that works. These are the three most important things you can do for success in your life.

Get In Shape and Gain Energy….

The first thing you must do for success is to get in the best physical shape possible. The main reason for this is because of what it will do for your energy levels. You should always be trying to gain more personal energy.

Energy will allow you to reach your goals faster and with less effort. How can you possibly be operating at an optimal level if you are tired and bogged down all the time? You can’t. You need to get in shape. You need to implement a program of eating and exercise which will give you MORE energy.

You don’t need to feed your body 5 times a day. You don’t need to eat a huge meal representing all the food groups every meal. You can eat light throughout the day for more energy. If you are working on a big project and on a roll, why would you stop to eat lunch? It will totally derail your momentum and you will never find your way back to where you were before lunch.

If you limit your carbohydrate levels in the morning, you absolutely won’t need to eat at noon. I often will skip lunch if I am busy and motivated. Less food can actually give you more energy!

We have been told for years that skipping meals will make you gain weight. We have been told you must eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. We have been told to eat snacks in between meals to keep from getting too hungry.

Nothing can be further from the truth. The more you eat, especially if you are eating carbohydrates, the hungrier you will be throughout the day.

Another key component in raising your energy levels is hydration. If you are not properly hydrated you will feel sluggish. You should drink half your bodyweight in ounces every day. (If you weight 180 lbs, you should drink 90 ounces of water a day.) When you are dehydrated you can confuse it with hunger. This can lead to overeating.

You should be exercising 5-6 times per week. This should include weight training and cardiovascular exercise. The more you move your body, the more you will WANT to move your body. Motion creates energy. If you do nothing else, you should be exercising. It can change your mindset instantly and put you into an energetic state.

I used to do what I called The Superman Workout when I was looking for more energy. I decided I was going to start a swimming program at the gym. After 40 minutes or so of swimming I would hit the steam room. Then when I could not stand the steam anymore (about 10 minutes) I would take an ice cold shower. When I walked out of the gym I felt like I was about to come off the ground. I felt absolutely invigorated. This is why I started calling it The Superman Workout. I felt like I was gonna take to the sky and fly!

This is what I felt like after doing what I dubbed The Superman Workout

You absolutely must keep your energy levels high to accomplish great things. This is done by limiting carbohydrates, drinking more water, exercising and eating fewer calories. This is how you can give yourself super human energy levels. This is what the next level achievers are doing.

There is no reason to bog your system down every 3-4 hours with a heavy meal. Eat some protein, maybe some nuts and seeds or veggies. Keep your fire burning. If you eat a bunch of bread or potatoes at lunch time, you will be tired in the afternoon. Your brain won’t be working.

So eat lighter, drink more water, start exercising and watch your energy levels skyrocket.

Stop Consuming and Start Producing

Be a producer instead of a consumer. How many of you follow people who you envy on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram? I do.

I have been a “self help” junkie for the last 2 decades. I have read every book and listened to every “guru” out there. I have always been a “consumer” when it comes to self help and improvement. But one day I decided to write my own program. It was a weight loss program. I wrote it, launched it and soon was making 10k a month. A month! You can read about it here. This is what can happen when you start producing instead of consuming.

I can’t tell you how many times I have been working on something and decided to go check out somebody elses content. Next thing I know I have been sucked into an internet rabbit hole. By the time I come up for breath I am tired, unmotivated and have wasted hours.

This is not only about social media consumption. How much time do you spend a day wishing you were somewhere else? How much time do you spend talking about someone more successful than you? How much time are you consumed by something somebody else is doing?

Instead of talking about how so and so lost a bunch of weight and got in shape, why not get yourself in shape. Why not give people a reason to talk about you? Stop consuming other peoples success. Start creating your own. You are giving your personal energy away to someone else when you do this. Create your own energy. Create your own life for THEM to be envious of.

Be the producer. The producer gets the girl or guy. The producer gets the raise or new postiiton. The producer finds a way out of mediocrity. The producer lives a REAL life!

Why not start building your life? Work on the job you have and see how you can become more valuable to the people you work for. This is how people move up and get ahead.

Going from a consumer to a producer will help you recognize opportunity. You will start to develop insight and new ways to make your life better.

Have A Budget and Save What Is Left

Start budgeting and saving. You need to start building YOUR future. Saving some money is the easiest way to start “making more money”. You can give yourself a raise by simply not spending ALL of your money every week. Building your wealth starts with saving money.

If you become successful but don’t know how to live within your means, it does not matter. You will always be broke. I was making a quarter million dollars a month and was basically broke. Why? Because I had no idea how much I was spending.

So my big three success principles are these:

  1. Get in shape and get your energy levels where they should be
  2. Stop consuming and start producing a life you deserve.
  3. Start saving money and growing your life. Stuff doesn’t matter, your bank account does. It will give you peace of mind and a stress free life.

These are the big three guys and gals. This is my mission here. To push these three things as hard as I can. If you can accomplish these three things you will be healthier, happier and have less stress. This will help you live a happier, healthier, more fulfilled life.

The Secrets of Warren Buffett and Grant Cardone

If there is one thing I could go back and tell myself it would be this. In order to be successful, you need to always be moving forward towards wealth. In short, you need to always be saving money. You need to always be gaining and not losing, no matter how small. Everybody dreams and schemes on ways to become rich, instead of using the easiest way of all. Start saving money!

Listen. If you are living in a tiny one bedroom apartment and putting money away every month, you are much better off than the guy living in a huge house who can barely make his payments. In fact, if you are putting money away, this instantly makes you more successful than a lot of Americans. 35% of Americans have zero savings. That means if you just start saving, you are richer than 35 percent of people living in the U.S.

Taking Action…

Is taking massive action the way to success? Maybe, maybe not.

The self help industry has been built on two things. Goal setting and taking action. Taking “massive action” is what Tony Robbins has been selling to folks for 4 decades. He has made millions and millions of dollars selling this advice. But does it work?

For most people I would say no. You can take all the action in the world and still not see success. The reason for this is simple. Most people are working jobs. Now, you can work harder at your job. You can get a raise. You can start to make more money. But if you aren’t saving any of that money, it does no good. Your lifestyle will magically rise as your pay does. This is why you need to train yourself to sock money away.

Now, you could start your own business. You could take massive action. It might work. You could pick a really lucrative industry and have everything absolutely blow up and make you wealthy. But, statistics show this isn’t usually the case. A large percentage of small businesses fail. That is a fact. But nobody wants to hear this. Most people, after buying into the self help industry, think they can outwork this fact. Some will. Most will not.

I am not saying what Tony Robbins and other motivators are saying is wrong. I just think they are putting the cart before the horse. The much better and SMARTER option is to learn how to control your finances. Learn how to live below your means. Get out of debt and start accumulating money. Then, once you do this, start looking for opportunities. Starting a business on a shoestring and planning to take “massive action” is a recipe for disaster.

The much better option is learning how to accumulate money doing what you are currently doing. Then start a business that doesn’t cost much to start and can make a small profit easily. Then run that company like you run your life and start putting even more money away. Rinse and repeat. This is a recipe for success.

Much Lower Stress…

If you learn to live like this I will guarantee one thing. You will have much less stress in your life. Nothing lowers stress like being financially secure.

Don’t be this guy. Become stress free instead.

Look at Warren Buffett. He lives in a small house he bought 50 years ago in Omaha. He doesn’t have billions of dollars worth of homes like most hedge fund managers. Because of this, when the market goes down, he buys up bargains while other managers and banks look to him to borrow money. He has made one of the largest fortunes in history, in part, because of his frugality. He also happens to be a financial genius, but you get the point.

If you listen to Warren Buffett talk, he exudes calmness and rationality. If you look at other fund managers they are the complete opposite. This has been a big key to his success.

The Real Key To Success…

So what is the real secret to success?

  1. Be as frugal as possible. Learn not to waste hard earned money on things that lose their value almost instantly (i.e. cars, boats, clothes, furniture). You can have these things, but buy quality and use them as long as you can. I realize for young people this can be quite a task, but it is a VERY important lesson to learn.
  2. Earn as much as possible. Always be trying to earn more money. This is why saving is so important. People who are struggling to pay bills are typically not on the lookout for more money. They don’t care because it will all go to bills anyways. Earn as much as you can with the skills you have.
  3. Save as much as possible. Start saving every week. If you are in debt, get out as quickly as you can. Then start saving. Start BUILDING your wealth!

So there it is. Be as frugal as possible. Earn and save as much as possible.

I can’t stress how important this frugality thing can be. If you look into the lives of very wealthy people, you will almost always find that they are extremely frugal individuals.

Warren Buffett– His frugality is legendary. He is one of the richest people in the world and lives in the same house he bought when he got married.

This is Warren Buffett’s house. The richest man in the world at one time.

Donald Trump– Most people think of Trump as a spender because of his planes and houses. He is frugal. I once read a book called Trump Nation. This Wall Street Journal reporter said Donald would use the reporters phone whenever he saw him to save minutes. Don’t know if this is true but it wouldn’t surprise me. Rich people like saving money.

Grant Cardone- Grant is a huge internet marketer and influencer who drives Rolls Royce’s and has a private jet. Grant said he drove a Toyota Camry until he was a millionaire. If you get deeper into his stuff he always preaches saving and investing money instead of buying toys you can’t afford.

This is Grant Cardone with his jet. He drove a camry until his investments could afford to pay for a more luxurious car.

These are just a few of the very wealthy people on planet earth. I have read many, many biographies in my life. Frugal spending habits are a thing you find very common amongst the wealthy people who run our planet. Extremely common.

This is not the shiniest or fanciest advice on the planet. But you know what? This is something that everyone can start right now. Everybody, no matter how young or old, can start doing this today. TODAY! Get after it. Start today. It becomes fun once you start. It is inspiring and you start to love it once you start gaining momentum.

3 Ways To Become A Charismatic, Energetic Indiviual

If you are going to be successful, you are going to need energy and lots of it. If you look at any successful person, they have lots of energy. When someone describes someone who charismatic, it is almost always preceded or followed by energetic. “Wow, what a charismatic, energetic guy!”

Energy creates momentum. When you are enthusiastic and energetic, the world seems to open up to you. Things start falling in your lap. You get luckier. Energy is the cornerstone of any successful individual. Energy creates more of what we want and need in life!

So how do we create more energy? Well I have narrowed it down to a few things.

Here are my 3 tips for creating more energy for your life.

Watch What You Put In Your Mouth.

Don’t be like this guy.

Over the last few years I have been contemplating getting on testosterone replacement therapy. The main reason for this was lack of energy. Fatigue. After doing the research I decided not to take the testosterone. I had a nagging feeling that if I lost weight and ate right, the fatigue would go away.

So last month I did a dry January. I quit drinking and cut my calories down to about 1,200 a day. I ate mostly lower carb food, but not always. I stuck to this diet religiously for the month of January.

The result was that my energy skyrocketed.

Once I wasn’t bogging my system down with food every few hours, my energy went through the roof. I had so much energy at night I started organizing everything in my house. I also became an idea machine. Ideas once again began to flood my brain. I started to get motivated like I haven’t been in a long time.

So before anything, I would advise cutting calories. Stop eating HEAVY meals like bread and pasta.  Lots of bread and carbs in the middle of the day will zap your energy. I can think of nothing that will kill my afternoon energy levels more than a carbohydrate heavy lunch.

Try eating light during the day. Lean protein (chicken, tuna, eggs, turkey), veggies, nuts and seeds. These things will give you energy instead of zapping it. They will fuel your body instead of bogging it down.

Drink lots of water. You don’t need to overdo it, but stay hydrated. Keep water nearby and drink it often.

Get Your Body Moving

This girl definitely looks charismatic and energetic.

Tony Robbins says motion creates emotion. If you lay on the couch all day, how much energy do you think you will have? None. What about if you move around. Much more?

Have you ever noticed how much more animated you are when you pace while on the phone? What about when you talk on the phone while lying down? You can almost hear someone laying down when talking to them on the phone.

So move around. Get up and move your arms and legs throughout the day. Get animated. If you sit and act tired, you will be tired. Get work done at a fast clip. Jump up and clear your desk, organize your area. Stop putting things off. Get moving.

Also, you must start an exercise routine. Exercise creates energy. If you exercise in the morning it will start your day on a positive energy note. If you exercise in the evening it will do the same. You will sleep better and be more restored the next day. This will snowball into an energetic lifestyle.

You know what they say. An object in motion will stay in motion. This is more true than you know. If you are going to be an energetic, successful person you must be a mover. Stay on the move all day. Take the stairs. Park far away and walk.

I remember when I trained for a marathon. I would catch myself driving around looking for a closer parking spot. What the hell. I would run ten miles in the morning and then drive around looking for a spot 30 yards closer to the store. Find ways to move more throughout the day. Be different from the lazy sheep you see all around you.

Watch What You Put In Your Mind

Don’t put garbage in your mind. Garbage in, garbage out.

The last thing is to put motivating things into your mind. Read blogs like these. Follow inspirational people on social media.

If all you do is read about politics and negative press coverage, it will zap your energy.

Keep guard of your mind at all times. You can become depressed just by the media you allow into your brain. 99 percent of it is nothing but propaganda anyways. It is designed to make you scared and worried. This keeps people watching.

Change your habits. Stop watching the news and watch uplifting movies. Read uplifting, motivational books. Read and listen to energetic, charismatic individuals because this is the goal. This is who you want to emulate.

Those are a few ways you can use to gain more personal energy. When people describe you to someone, maybe they will say he/she is a charismatic, energetic individual. Charismatic, energetic people rule the world. Be a leader, not a follower. Create a routine to increase your energy. Start today!

What I Learned Not Drinking For 30 Days, Results of Dry January

The results are in. I officially went all of January without a single drop of alcohol. No beer, whiskey or wine. None. It has been a great experience. This is the story.

Why I Did It..

There were a few reasons why I decided to not drink for the month of January.

The first reason is because during the holiday season I usually eat and drink a lot. Christmas parties, events and what not kill my physique and motivation. Plus, I tend to drink more in the colder months here in the Midwest. I just do. I figured health wise I needed to cut back. It was getting to be a little more than a drink here and there. I was drinking most nights, if not every night.

I also seemed to be having a hard time losing weight. No matter what I did in the gym I couldn’t lose weight. No matter how much I dropped my food intake I couldn’t seem to lose weight.

And I couldn’t seem to quit drinking my beer. Every night after work I would come up with an excuse to put it off one more day.

I needed to do something drastic. So I decided to do a “dry January” and quit drinking the entire month of January.

The Weight Loss…

So for the first week I barely changed my diet. I figured I wasn’t drinking and the weight would just magically fall off. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case. I didn’t lose one pound the first week.

So I started following this diet here

I followed this diet religiously and didn’t eat one cheat meal. I promised myself pizza and cheese dip for the super bowl if I stuck to it the entire month.

So I followed this diet

And I didn’t drink one drop of alcohol for the entire month of January.

The Results…

The results were that I dropped 18 pounds. Now remember I didn’t start until the second week. So I lost 18 pounds in a little over 3 weeks. That is success. That is progress. That is something that worked.

I am not saying do something as drastic as I did. I am just showing you what actually works and works fast.

The whole point of this blog is to give you the truth about success and self help. This diet worked. It sucked. It took dedication. But it worked.

Those people you see in magazines that look amazing do things like this. They are what the general public would call extreme. But you know what. They are successful. They achieve their goals.

Extreme or not, dry January was a success. I did what I set out to do. I lost 18 pounds in a little over 3 weeks. Now I can focus on a clean eating diet and raise my calories a little bit. The best part is that after eating like this, a clean eating diet with more calories will seem like a cheat meal. It is a win win.

Like I always say, simple but not easy. Let me know what you think.

3 Diets You Can Use To Lose 30 Pounds!

People often get hung up on the way they are going to do something. It is analysis paralysis. You sit and think about, read about and contemplate your problem. You think tomorrow sounds like a good idea. Or even better yet, Monday. When I was a smoker I was always going to quit on Monday. The whole time I smoked cigarettes (almost 20 years), I never bought a carton of cigarettes. I always bought one or two packs at a time. The reason is because I was always going to quit on Monday. When I finally did quit (12 years ago), I remember saying to myself, why do you wait so long?

The same is true for dieting. I can’t tell you how many times I told myself I was going to start my diet on Monday, so I might as well live it up this weekend. This thinking has put more weight on me than I can imagine. I have stopped doing this. When I start something, I do it now. Not tomorrow, now.

The point of this article is to let you know that you don’t need any special diet. You can lose weight with any diet. Any diet!

Here are three basic diets people usually use to lose weight fast. I have used two of these personally, at different times in life, to lose thirty pounds.

The vegan diet- Nothing But Veggies. I would never recommend this diet long term. But, if you ate this way and threw in some eggs, it would be pretty darn healthy. I have never eaten this way other than a juice cleanse I did a few times. This, in my opinion, would be a great “cleanse” to do for a few weeks. I know vegans will hate my opinion on this,  but getting enough protein is just too much work with this diet. Why not just eat a damn egg or two.

The No Carb Diet- Nothing But Meat And Cheese. In my opinion this is the best way to eat if you can stick to it. Great way for people used to overeating large portions of food. You can eat all you want and start losing weight. I have a real hard time sticking to this for a long time. I did lose a boatload of weight doing this diet though.  Read about my experience with this here.

The Whole Grain Type Diet– Sandwiches on whole grain bread (Ezekiel). Tacos on corn tortillas, beans, etc. Lots of veggies. Lean proteins. I lost 40 pounds eating this way. Read about how I did this diet here.

Ezekiel bread made by Food For Life. I ate this stuff every day and lost 40 pounds.

I have used all three of these diets to lose 30 pounds or more. Here are the reasons they all work.

  1. Portion control. While eating any of these ways, you must prepare your own food for the most part. When you do this, you automatically make yourself stick to a certain portion size. Portion sizes make a huge difference in caloric intake. Remember the Subway pervert who lost like 80 pounds eating two subs a day. It was mainly portion control.
  2. Eliminates sugar. These diets all pretty much eliminate or drastically reduce the amount of sugar and processed carbohydrate you take in. This eliminates a lot of calories. Your body functions better, digests food better, etc.
  3. Eliminates processed food. All of these diets eliminate processed white flour and packaged foods. Just eliminating packaged foods would make most people lighter and healthier.

That’s it. These are the reasons that almost ALL diets will work if you follow them. That is the key though, follow through. You need to break through the first week or two and let your body adjust. Depending on how much processed, sugary foods you eat this can be a huge adjustment. Sugar withdrawal is a real thing, even if only mental. You can actually get depressed when eliminating these foods. You need to fight through this phase with all your power.

Once you get to the next stage, you start seeing results. you start having more energy. You start feeling amazing. This usually kicks in a week or two after adopting healthier habits. Then you are off to the races and the sky is the limit.

The Conclusion…

Quit analyzing how you are going to get back in shape. Pick a healthy way of eating and do it. Start today. Plan everything out and start first thing tomorrow. Why wait? The amount of weight you can lose in one month is staggering. Why do we wait so long?

Make a decision to do it and do it. We always say decision+vision equals your mission. Make a decision to get in shape. Create a vision of how you want to look and make it your mission to do this. You can’t do it until you start. Imagine how good and full of energy you will feel a month from now.

No More Excuses, You Have More Power Than You Realize

I was reading an article on Yahoo earlier about an Instagram model who posted a picture of her from ten years ago. She was overweight and holding a girl up doing a kegstand. Pretty funny actually. Then there was a picture of now. Super toned, amazing body. It was a really good post actually.

This is not the girl, but I like this picture.

She laid out how in the before picture she was drinking, eating nothing but fast food, not exercising, not drinking water or sleeping right. She said she now works out, eats good 80 percent of the time, drinks a lot of water and sleeps well. Sounds like a plan for success doesn’t it? Sounds like she has her ducks in a row and is doing what needs to be done to look amazing. Kudos to her.

So I scroll down to the comments section after reading about her and couldn’t believe the excuses coming from people.

Excuse after Excuse…

Almost every single comment on the page I read, said something about how they could do the same if all they had to do is workout and take pictures of themselves. Seriously, like every single post. If I didn’t have a job, family, life and on and on and on. The excuses flowed like a river.

What the heck has happened to people. People are so worthless and lazy that they now can’t even give compliments to someone who has gotten in amazing shape. The internet has turned people into perpetual haters. And excuse makers.

Everything these people were spewing was nothing but excuses. Everybody has time to workout. Everybody. I would guess that every single person that posted some excuse watches at least two hours of TV a day. If not TV, then the internet. So you have time to read an article and then post comments about it, but not to workout. I would bet that most of them spent as much time on that article as they could have on a workout.

Don’t be like this. I have been like this. We all have. I have never posted on a website negative things about any fitness model or bodybuilder though that’s for sure. I mean seriously. Those people actually took time out of their day to post their excuses for the world to see. That is some high level excuse making right there.

This is what lazy people do.

This is what fat people do.

This is what poor people do. (within reason, obviously snowflake.)

They make excuses. They take other people down who are doing what they wish they had the strength to do.

But you do have the strength. Yes, you do.

You Have More Power Than You Realize…

You have all the strength inside of you to do everything you ever wanted to do. You just need to stop making excuses and do it.

You have the strength to get into the best shape of your life. You can start today and look like an Instagram model (or whoever) in under a year if you really wanted to. And yes, you could do so even while working 60 hours a week and raising a family. I work 60-70 hours a week for 8 months out of the year. I usually stop going to the gym during this time because I tell myself I don’t have enough time. But one year I didn’t tell myself that. I went to the gym three days a week religiously and trained for a marathon the other days of the week. This all happened while working 60-70 hours a week, doing arguably some of the hardest physical labor there is.

I would get up and go to the gym or run 4 miles, then pour concrete with one of my crews for my construction company all morning. Then I would help set up concrete pours for the next day all afternoon. I would run between 10 and 20 miles on Sunday. At one point, I was even swimming at night on top of all of this! I was also sending out bids during the afternoon and doing book work late at night.

So stop with the excuses people. Everybody is capable of this type of energy.

Stop making excuses and putting other people down. It really only drags you down. How can you accomplish what you want if you have an excuse for why you don’t look the way you want to look.

So it’s real easy. Stop making excuses, start your program of awesomeness. Again, stop making excuses, start executing your plan. Simple as that. You can start today. Not Monday or tomorrow. You can actually start this today.
